HARINGEY BOROUGH’S RECORD ATTENDANCE

This story may not go as far back as many of our histories but to Friday 9th November 2018 when Haringey Borough FC of the Bostik Smart Adhesives Premier Division posted their record attendance in hosting Sky Bet Division One AFC Wimbledon for a First Round Proper F A Cup tie. 2,710 attended the game which was also on TV and as the present capacity is pinned at 2,000, it will struggle to be beaten.

Our Match Programme, a sell out on the night was a glossy £2 production and detailed in two pages, the progress of the various names of the club since formation in 1907 as Tufnell Park. Edmonton was next in the 1960’s then Edmonton & Haringey followed by Wood Green Town until 1970 when the change was made to Haringey Borough. The club ground is Coles Park in White Hart Lane, N17 7JP. After their long membership in the Spartan League, in 2013-14 the F A moved them sideways to the Essex Senior League which was highly successful with a runners-up spot to Great Wakering Rovers and a League Championship in 2014-15 thus achieving promotion to Step 4. The next two pages detailed their progress right through from the Preliminary Round with victories over Stanway Rovers, Brentwood Town, Erith Town, AFC Sudbury and Poole Town. A history of AFC Wimbledon followed the a full page from Chairman Aki Achillea and Tom Loizou the Manager adding his piece. John Bacon the Secretary was equally enthusiastic with his piece and each player was given a small colour photo and write up for both sides. The last pages were the League tables, match line ups and they* included Mitchell Pinnock who scored the winning goal for AFC Wimbledon in 90th minute much to the shock of Borough supporters and all the clubs fixtures and results completed the excellent edition worth its cover price.
