It seems like only yesterday I was sweeping out the dressing room following our final game, yet the new season is already upon us this weekend, barely time for the paint to dry on any painting that may have been done around the ground.
This seasons ESL promises to be as exciting as ever with founder members Stansted returning to the fold, Sawbridgeworth Town & another well run friendly club in new boys Benfleet, who have been one of the best sides in step 6 for a few seasons, following their deserved promotion to our league.
It's the part of the season where everyone's hopes feel the same , it all feels really equal.
Most club will no doubt have new players & some will have old players that have moved on that may soon be facing old clubs like some sort of pantomime villain.
Successful managers will no doubt say it's not how you start but how you finish, but a good start keeps the confidence high & sometimes keep even help clubs over achieve.
Friendships between supporters & opposing committees will be rekindled as the adrenaline begins to flow awaiting the first goal, the first win, the first look at the league table. Likewise if you have a poor start the paranoia sets in of are we going to be alright.
If the sun is shining all feels right with the world, the burger & pint somehow feels better. That first win for all closely involved at club level makes all the hard work & stress feel justified & worthwhile, if it comes In the new kit that becomes the lucky new kit , whilst a heavy loss means the kits a jinx.
It's the same each season & it's why we do what we do ,& it's all part of our lives of the game whether you support Manchester City or little old Barkingside the feelings & importance of your club are all the same its the love of the game all the best to everyone in the ESL this season.
