Romford win justifies why we do it
When you are heavily involved with a club you go through loads of highs and lows, and sometimes we have all at times wondered why we do it.
Watching Romford win the vase and seeing the sheer joy on the faces of Steve Gardner and Colin Ewenson was absolutely fantastic, two guys who have given so much for their club for more years than they care to remember.
They survived for 15 years in the Isthmian League against all the odds without a budget and a ground of their own, my club only managed 3, so i know how much of an achievement that was. They became sort of travelling nomads at the same time playing their home games in no fewer than four different grounds.
To keep going through all that takes commitment, dedication and a strong mind so to personally watch their joy and excitement from pre match to post match was a joy to behold, I'm genuinely so pleased for them.
It was also nice that people like Lee,Michelle and Rob, who have given so much for this league, to also have their day in the spotlight and their efforts be rewarded with two clubs creating the first all Essex final.
As I have said previously it's important to enjoy the highs, and is it paramount you stay positive during the lows, I'm sure Steve and Colin will testify to that, well done to Romford and also to Great Wakering Rovers as both clubs have lifted the profile of the league.
