The Bank Holiday weekend found clubs very close to their final games and four league games took place with eventual runners up, Brentwood winning 4 0 against Bowers United, Canvey Island losing 0 6 to East Thurrock United, Eton Manor also losing 1 2 to Southend Manor and Sawbridgeworth Town getting the better of Ford United by 1 0.
Burnham Ramblers were leading the Premier Division with 28 points but eventual champions Southend Manor were only two points behind with three games in hand.
In the Division One Cup Final, Bowers Reserves beat Brightlingsea Reserves 4 1 (aet) and eventual champions Southend Manor Reserves were leading the table by a point from Sawbridgeworth Reserves. Woodford Town were in last position a point behind East Ham United.
Thus, Southend Manor in winning both championships and the Harry Fisher Memorial Trophy claimed their finest ever season. Only the League Cup Final alluded them losing out to Brentwood 0-2, at Basildon United.
