A Warm Welcome Back: Familiar Faces Return

By Michelle Dorling

The 2025/26 season will see the return of several clubs who are no strangers to the Essex Senior League — and we’re excited to welcome them home.

Basildon United FC
Following their relegation from the Isthmian League North, Basildon United make their return to the ESL. A proud club with deep roots in Essex football, the Bees will be aiming to regroup and push forward with ambition. Their return brings added quality and local rivalry to the league.

Sporting Bengal United FC
Also returning from the Isthmian League North, Sporting Bengal United rejoin a competition they once called home. Known for their strong community presence and rich heritage in East London football, their return is a welcome one — and we look forward to their renewed involvement in the ESL.

Hackney Wick FC
Promoted from the Eastern Counties League Division One South, Hackney Wick FC rejoin the ESL after a brief absence. A club built on inclusivity, youth empowerment, and social change, their return enriches the league both on and off the pitch. We’re delighted to see them back.

Soul Tower Hamlets FC
Another familiar name with a fresh identity, Soul Tower Hamlets (formerly Tower Hamlets FC) are promoted from the South East Counties League Division One. Having previously competed in the ESL, the club now returns with renewed purpose and a bold new brand. We welcome their energy and ambition back to the league.

Fresh Energy: A New Addition to the ESL

Harwich & Parkeston FC
Promoted from the Eastern Counties League Division One North, Harwich & Parkeston FC will be the only new entrant to the ESL this season. A storied club with a proud history, they bring both tradition and competitive spirit to the league. We look forward to seeing them in action.

As always, the cycle of promotion and relegation reminds us of the dynamic nature of football at this level. We celebrate the achievements of those moving up, salute the resilience of those regrouping, and open our arms to clubs returning to familiar ground.

To all clubs — whether arriving, rejoining, or leaving — thank you for your contribution to another fantastic season in the Essex Senior Football League.

Here’s to an exciting 2025/26 season ahead!
