700 Elite Club - Lewis Wood

By Michelle Dorling

Little Oakley FC's Captain made his 700th appearance for the club on Saturday 10th January 2026 v Romford

There are milestones, and then there are moments that stop you in your tracks and make you appreciate just how special grassroots football can be.

Lewis has been the heartbeat of Little In an era where players come and go with increasing regularity, reaching 700 games for one club speaks volumes. It tells a story of commitment through good seasons and tough ones, muddy pitches and long journeys, promotion pushes and rebuilding years. It’s a number built not on headlines, but on turning up – week after week, year after year.

To put that into perspective, Lewis joins a very elite '700 Club' alongside icons like Messi, Scholes, and Gerrard.

For Little Oakley, Lewis’s 700th appearance isn’t just a personal milestone – it’s a club moment - Lewis has played for Little Oakley for over 20 years! Connecting past and present players, volunteers and supporters, and underlines why local football matters so much.

The Essex Senior League is proud to recognise achievements like this. They don’t happen often, and they deserve to be celebrated when they do.

Congratulations to Lewis on 700 games in Little Oakley colours – a truly remarkable contribution, and one that will be remembered long after the final whistle.
